This week on Modern American Realtor Corey and Casey Wright dive into the topic of Search Engine Optimization, commonly known as SEO. Search engine optimization is a strategic technique to influence your rank on search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. The better your SEO tactics, the more likely someone is to find your website amid the mass of information available on the internet. SEO plays a vital role in your real estate marketing strategy. To assist in improving your search engine rank, the brothers respond to the question, “what is SEO” and outline key tactics used to master this system.

Google determines how websites show up on a search page by using a complex algorithm, and this algorithm was updated on April 21, 2015. The result is that many websites will no longer be listed on Google searches if the site does not incorporate responsive design, a technique that allows a website to adjust to platforms other than a computer, such as smartphones and tablets. To avoid being overlooked by search engines, Corey and Casey provide the tools you need for monitoring whether your site will be affected, and what simple changes you can make to ensure you don’t become lost in the crowd.

Maintaining and developing your online presence requires a great deal of time and effort. If you choose to outsource your SEO development, it is critical that you thoroughly evaluate your SEO partner. What to look for in the best SEO companies is broken down, along with how to monitor the work moving forward.

The primary component of what drives SEO is valuable content. Corey details the importance of collecting data on your site. Analyzing what content on your site is getting the most engagement and social shares or the quickest bounce rates (how quickly visitors leave your website) will allow you to make beneficial adjustments. Casey explains the makeup of good content, where to draw inspiration from, and how to keep users engaged and on your site longer.

Looking at more specific strategies, Corey and Casey evaluate the impact of social media on your link footprint, why a 30 second youtube video is well worth your time and how bad web design could increase your bounce rate. Ending the discussion with one of the most common question real estate agents ask regarding online marketing, “Is SEO really worth my time?”
