Welcome to another great episode of Modern American Realtor. As industry leaders in real estate marketing, the Wright brothers are regularly asked a spectrum of questions relating to social media. In this episode Casey and Corey dig into topics regarding social media for Realtors, including web based business promotion tips and tactics for staying relevant to an online audience.

Not all social networks are created equal, and in their own unique way, each platform requires a different approach to acquire attention and distinction. Facebook is still the largest online network, amassing over 80% of the market. However Facebook’s secret algorithm works to filter and target ad content to contacts and groups. In contrast, Twitter is considered a broadcast platform which distributes content in chronological order to a public audience. The Wright Brothers explain how to best capitalize on these differences in distribution, and how to target content specifically to a particular audience.

As marketing experts, the Wright brothers recommend agents use social media as a branding platform to focus, engage and promote their strengths within a local market. Sharing specific and consistent information regarding an area of expertise or a specific community can help to establish valuable and engaged audience. However, learning to promote without plugging (blatant solicitation) is an important detail that sets successful social media strategies apart.

Maintaining an audience is essential to building a network. Avoid being unfollowed or unfriended by evaluating your content from the perspective of your audience. Aim to provide entertaining and valuable information and steer clear of topics that may be perceived as controversial to others, such as politics or religion.

Social media marketing has become invaluable platform for agents working in the modern market. However, the landscape can be overwhelming, and each network demands its own set of rules for successful engagement. Corey and Casey share personal experiences that help to evaluate best practices for each network, illustrate branding strategies for realtors, and define tactics to expand online business.
