15 Reasons I’m Excited About 2015 by Corey Wright

2014 was another great year…I got married, moved into a new house, watched our business grow, and had a lot of fun doing it. But this year, I’ve got even more to be excited about. Here’s just a few…

1. First Wedding Anniversary

Last year, on May 25th, I married the love of my life, which means this year, we get to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. The wedding took place in Cancun, and was pretty much perfect, so I don’t know how I can top that, but I’m up for the challenge.

2. WBI Multi-Cast

One of the things that I loved doing in our early business years was public speaking and weekly podcasts. In the past few years, we’ve found other ways to connect with our clients, and haven’t been able to do much training. In 2015, Casey and I will be launching a new multicast (basically a podcast that gets multi-purposed on different mediums). We’re still working out the final details, but you can expect the first episode out sometime in Q1.

3. Bears vs. Chargers

Every four years, the Bears and Chargers play, rotating between home teams. Four years ago, we travelled to Chicago to see my wife’s favorite team, the Chicago Bears, beat the Chargers. This year, the Bears will make the daunted trip to San Diego so we can avenge that loss and give me the bragging rights in the family, for the first time. Don’t let me down Bolts!

4. Golf Cart

This year for Christmas, my wife got me an awesome golf cart to romp around the community. It’s fully loaded with a lift kit, a roll bar, a bumping stereo, and a bull horn. Whether it’s a trip to the mailbox, the jacuzzi, or just stroll around the neighborhood, I’m looking forward to making regular scenes in my new toy.

5. Business Growth

With the growth of Wright Brothers, Inc. over the last two years, I found myself transitioning into a new role last year, moving out of the front lines, and focusing on the operations of the business and our team. Heading into 2015, I’m fully integrated and feeling extremely excited about the impact I can have on our organization. Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without being surrounded by such an amazing team, and so many great partners. Props to everyone…now get back to work.

6. 40 under 40

2014 was a big year for Wright Brothers, Inc. in the awards department, and we don’t plan on slowing down. We have our sites set on a few company awards, and I’ve got my eyes set on the OC Metro 40 under 40 award this year. The good news is that I’ve got 7 more chances to win, but I’m hoping to not see this same topic on next year’s blog post.

7 – 9. Feb. 1, 2015

This date marks three big moments—the much anticipated launch of the new WingWire, our company, Wright Brothers, Inc. will celebrate our 10 year anniversary, and me and my wife will host our second annual Super Bowl party. I’m not sure which one I’m most excited about, but I know that it will be an awesome day, and I may even have a beer.

10. Tesla

My current car lease on the Mazdarati will be up in December of this year, and I’ve got my eyes set on a Tesla for my next ride. It may be more of a dream than a reality, but at least let me have my fun for the next 11 months.

11. Becoming the Dude

This year, when I bought my wife a bowling ball and shoes for Christmas, it was a bit of a selfish move. My true motive was to give us a reason to join a bowling league, and I think it may have worked. We’re currently working on finding a bowling league to join. Let me know if anyone else is looking to do the same.

12. Audiobooks for Days

I’ve never been much for reading books, but I love learning. My recently found love of podcasts and audiobooks has changed my regular trips from OC to SD, so I can get my learning fix without having to turn a single page. I’m committing to at least one audiobook per month this year, and my guess is I won’t have any problem hitting that quota.

13. Thankful Thursdays

One of the best days every month is our Thankful Thursdays, where we take a day off work to give back to the community. Since we started this in 2013, we’ve had the opportunity to meet so many cool people, and they keep getting better. I’m excited to see what the next 12 Thankful Thursdays will bring us, and the experiences we are blessed with.

14. Building an Intern Program

Without question, the best part of my job is the people I get to work with every day. This year, we’re looking to hire some additional team members, and we’re also going to be connecting with local universities to launch an intern program. I’m pumped to see the new ideas and energy that interns can bring to our organization.
